It is time for me to head back to Michigan and enjoy my family and do a little skiing. It has been a bit chilly in the Keys the last week. It is to cold to early!! I left the dock one afternoon sweating, returned in full rain gear and freezing. What a change!!
Fishing was holding up well until the last couple of days when water dipped into the fifties. It has been a real mixed bag at Ocean Reef Club of late. We have caught a couple of Permit, some nice Snook, several Bonefish and lots of Ladyfish, Jacks, Sharks and Snappers.
I hope the water has warmed into the seventies and it is sunny and warm upon my return to Ocean Reef.
Tight Lines, Capt. Dave
Hi,
ReplyDeleteNice site! Just found it over on www.bonefishonthebrain.com and like it. I'm heading to FLA myself in a month or two to hit the tarpon, but maybe I can make it into the backcountry once or twice. Can't wait.
One comment, though, are those snook destined for the cooler or a swift release? I hope it's the former; lipping a snook like that spells it's certain doom. (http://www.saltwatersportsman.com/article/News/Handle-With-Care) Same for boga grip devices. I'm a guide myself and after reading a finding by the Bonfish & Tarpon Trust I was mortified I might be killing the fish I love and depend upon for my livelyhood. I did a little write up on it here: http://flatswalker.com/2011/02/12/does-catch-release-probably-dead-pt-i/.
Anyways, keep up the great work and tight lines when you can.
